‘On What Grounds’ Review

Year of Release: 2003

Genre: Cozy Mystery

Number of Pages: 275

To start, I need to make a disclaimer: I am a tea drinker. That big confession being off my chest, I have to say that after reading this book, I may convert to drinking coffee.

Set at an independent and well-loved coffee shop called the Village Blend in New York’s hip Greenwich Village, you will immediately be drawn into the world of protagonist Clare Cosi. The divorcee mother of a college-aged daughter is not hard to root for, especially when she finds her Village Blend assistant manager at the bottom of the shop’s stairs.

Let Ms. Coyle take you on a caffeine-filled adventure overflowing with fascinating characters and coffee so vividly described that you can almost smell the aroma in each of the 275 pages.

The first book in the Coffeehouse Mystery series, I cannot wait to delve into the rest of the books and attempt to solve the mysteries. Perhaps with a nice Café Americano beside me.

Rating: 5/5 shots of espresso
