**I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review**

I haven’t been this excited about a book in a long time. The crisply written book literally had me reading for hours on end because I HAD to know what happened next.

To begin with, Kat is our 17-year-old heroine who magically gets transported into Cinderella’s realm via a decrepit copy of the classic children’s book.

Kat immediately resonated with me when it came about in the first chapter that she’s a true bookworm. This includes a love of both Anne of Green Gables (RIP Gilbert) as well as Beauty and the Beast. Her sentiment of marrying the Beast to inherit his expansive library is an anecdote I’ve shared with my befuddled friends on more than one occasion.

When Kat is transported into the early 19th century, she discovers that she must recreate the story to get back home. Her references to books like Harry Potter and The Chronicles of Narnia act a clever reminder to her true place in the modern world.

Ms. Aya Ling does a brilliant job of weaving a usually contrived romantic plot into a refreshing story that breaks the barriers of traditional female stereotypes.

So I pose two questions to my fellow readers and Ms. Ling:

  1. Can Kat come to life and be my best friend?

  1. What are you all waiting for? Get out and buy this truly magical book that is sure to fly off the shelves.

Rating: 5/5 ugly stepsisters + 10/10 magical books
