**I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review**

Let’s take a moment first to appreciate that this book is published in one of the most beautiful cities in the United States; Traverse City. Right away I was taken with both the book and the author when the pre-amble stated that 100% of the book sales/profits are donated to the reader’s wildlife charity of their choice.

Throughout the reading of this work of literary genius, I constantly loved the sass and sheer determination of Poppy McVie. She’s essentially the best role model for any parent with an animal loving daughter. Poppy doesn’t apologize for her love of animals, taking it upon herself to right the wrongs of the polarized modern world.

The truth of the matter is that this book brings to light a subject so often swept under the rug, that being the welfare of endangered and common animals alike. Set in the beautiful natural oasis of Costa Rica, Ms. Bindschatel brings reality to the forefront without shoving it down people’s throats. She is exactly the ambassador needed, with an extra voice added to the mix by the so-real-it’s-unbelievable Poppy McVie.

I, for one, cannot wait to see what the second book has in store, as Poppy travels to the fjords of Norway.

Rating: 5/5 capuchin monkeys
