Author: Jenny Lawson
I have to admit something: I’d never heard of Jenny Lawson or her blog (thebloggess.com) until a coworker recently recommended this book. I haven’t looked back since.
With a book cover reminiscent of Dinner for Schmucks, The Bloggess gives readers a poignantly hilarious look at her life. Growing up with a taxidermist father, Ms. Lawson offers readers an inside look at how animals came to be the care of her father, whether it be a ‘magic squirrel’ or very much alive turkeys. She tells each tale from two perspectives: her wide-eyed child innocence and her current opinions.
“Because there is a joy in embracing the utter absurdity of life.”
The brilliant part of this book is that Ms. Lawson doesn’t shy away from being honest about her struggles with an anxiety disorder. Instead, she uses situations that may seem insane in reality into a more comical manner via the form of her blog.
They say that laughter is the best medicine, so help yourself by buying this book as well as her upcoming September release of Furiously Happy.
